Who We Are

The St. Vincent de Paul Society is an international Catholic organization dedicated to helping families and individuals in their time of need. We are inspired by Gospel values and volunteer our time to serve others. We do not judge those we serve. On Vashon Island, we are affiliated with St. John Vianney Catholic Church.

Who We Serve

We serve our neighbors on Vashon Island in their time of need. Our services are available to all without regard to religion, ethnic or social backgrounds, health, gender, political opinions, or immigration status.

If you reside elsewhere, we encourage you to reach out to your local St. Vincent de Paul Council. For assistance in King County, outside of Vashon, click here.

How We Help

Our help always begins with a home visit and usually consists of providing assistance for rent, utilities, food, gas and other basic needs. However, no work of charity is foreign to the Society. Our assistance is provided with discretion and confidentiality.

Home Visits

When a neighbor in need first contacts our Helpline, two of our Vincentian volunteers arrange for a visit to the home. Home visits give us an accurate assessment of individual and family needs, help identify solutions and establish a trusting relationship.

Financial Assistance

By offering a listening ear, St. Vincent de Paul works with families to identify solutions and helps people avoid eviction and homelessness by providing urgently-needed rent and utility assistance, food, gas, and other basic needs. While our resources are limited, our hope is to help our neighbors get through a temporary emergency.

Referrals

Let us do without hesitation whatever good lies at our hands.
